About the shop, the stock and the network

The people, and there are not many of them

The shop is run by BH Commerce Ltd, a small company registered in England and Wales, with its registered office in Manchester. The registered details are printed at the foot of this page. There is no call centre behind any of it: whoever writes the specification pages is whoever answers the email about them.

That shapes the writing more than anything else does. A shop this size cannot outspend anybody, so it competes by being accurate — quoting the Bluetooth range with the caveat still attached, naming the radio the tag does not have, saying plainly which phones it will never pair with.

Where the stock physically sits

Stock is imported in bulk and then held here in the UK. Nothing is drop-shipped from overseas once you have paid: your parcel is picked from a shelf that already exists rather than ordered in from abroad after your card clears, which is what a good deal of the trade at this price does instead.

Every order is picked, packed and posted from the UK by Royal Mail, which has a consequence worth stating: no customs charge can land on you, and no card comes through the door asking for duty. The hardware itself is manufactured abroad — we are a shop, not a factory, and pretending otherwise would be the first lie on the page.

Why it is an Apple accessory and nothing else

BlueTag registers in the Find My app Apple already ships, so it needs an iPhone or an iPad. That is not a shortcut taken to avoid writing an app of our own. The Find My network is exactly what gives the tag its useful range, and the crowd of passing devices that quietly relay a tag’s position is Apple’s crowd.

Which means there is no Android app, and there is not going to be one. If you carry an Android handset, do not buy this — it will not pair with your phone at all, and no setting or workaround changes that. Better you close the tab now than open a return later.

What we can see about your tag: nothing

It is worth being exact about who does the finding, because the shop does not. The tag advertises a rotating, anonymous identifier over Bluetooth Low Energy. Apple devices passing within earshot report where they heard it, encrypted, to Apple’s network — and only the Apple Account it is paired to can decrypt any of that.

So we hold no location data whatsoever. There is no screen here showing where anybody’s tags are, no account of ours to sign into, and nothing for us to hand over or lose, because none of it ever arrives. Our records know a parcel was posted; they know nothing about where the tags went afterwards.

None of which makes us Apple’s. Bluetooth Tracker is an independent shop, neither affiliated with Apple nor endorsed by it: Find My and AirTag are Apple’s trademarks, and the Bluetooth word mark belongs to Bluetooth SIG. We sell an accessory that speaks Apple’s protocol, and that is the extent of it.

Posting it out, and taking it back

Orders are dispatched quickly and travel with Royal Mail. The dispatch cut-off, the delivery window and the length of the return period are all set out on the shipping and returns page, kept current in a single place rather than restated in prose that quietly goes stale.

The promise, in words rather than figures: UK delivery costs nothing at any quantity, we post to UK addresses only, and if the tracker is not what you expected it can come back inside the return window for a full refund, with no reason required.

The inbox, and who reads it

There is an email address at the foot of this page and a message form on the contact page; both land in the same inbox, and a person reads it — usually whoever packed the box being asked about. Where something needs checking against a tag on the desk first, it gets checked before the reply goes out.

Technical questions are welcome and, frankly, preferred: pairing, range through walls, what the buzzer is really for, why the map says what it says. Tell us your phone model and your iOS version and the exchange gets shorter. If the answer is that the tag cannot do what you need, that is the answer you will get.
