Bluetooth tracker Android support: the honest answer
If you are searching for Bluetooth tracker Android compatibility, the answer you need first is the one most product pages bury: a tag built for Apple's Find My network will not pair with an Android phone at all. Not partially, not with a companion app, not in a reduced mode. It will not even appear in the Bluetooth list. That is worth knowing before you spend anything, so this post explains why, what Android's own equivalent looks like, and what to buy if the phone in your pocket runs Android.
Why a Find My tag will not pair with an Android phone
The confusion is understandable, because "Bluetooth tracker" sounds like a generic Bluetooth accessory in the same family as a speaker or a pair of earbuds. It is not. A finding tag is not a device you connect to; it is a device that broadcasts, and what it broadcasts is defined by a network operator's protocol rather than by Bluetooth alone.
Apple runs one such network. Accessories that join it are built to Apple's Find My network specification under the MFi programme, and Apple's own developer documentation for the programme describes it as the route by which third-party products appear in the Items tab of the Find My app. An Android phone has no implementation of that protocol, no Find My app and no Apple Account to encrypt positions to. There is nothing for it to talk to.
Google runs the other. Its network is now called Find Hub, and it works on the same broad principle — crowd-sourced Bluetooth sightings, encrypted so that only the owner can read the location — but it is a separate specification with separate hardware certification.
Bluetooth tracker Android choices: what Find Hub actually is
Google renamed its Find My Device app to Find Hub on 13 May 2025, as reported by 9to5Google at the time, and rolled the new name through the app, the web interface and Android's own Settings pages over the following weeks. The rename was not cosmetic: alongside phones and wearables, the app now covers tracker tags, luggage and shared items, and Google's Android site describes the network as Android devices scanning over Bluetooth and securely reporting the locations of items back to their owner.
For an Android owner, the practical effect is that you are shopping in a different aisle. A tag has to be built for and certified against the Find Hub network to show up in that app, in exactly the same way an Apple-network tag has to be certified for Find My. There is no bridge between the two networks, and no third-party app can create one.
What that means for a household with both
Mixed households are common and the tags do not have to match the household, only the phone that will be doing the finding. If the keys belong to an iPhone owner, an Apple-network tag is correct even if everyone else in the house is on Android. If the person who will actually open the app carries a Pixel or a Galaxy, buy for Find Hub. Sharing between people works within a network, not across them.
The one thing both platforms now share
There is a genuine point of cooperation between the two companies, and it concerns safety rather than finding. Since May 2024 both platforms have implemented a shared specification for warning somebody that a stray tag is travelling with them — whichever network that tag belongs to, and whichever phone the person happens to be carrying. Apple delivered it from iOS 17.5, Google from Android 6.0 upwards, and several of the larger tag makers signed up alongside them.

The distinction worth holding on to is this: warnings cross the platform boundary and finding does not. Do not read the first as implying the second.
What Android owners should look for instead
If you are on Android, run down this list rather than the range figure:
- Certified for the Find Hub network. If the listing does not say so, assume it is not.
- A loud buzzer. The same logic applies on either platform — a map finds a building, a sound finds a cushion.
- A replaceable coin cell. Sealed tags are disposable hardware.
- A moulded attachment point rather than a sleeve sold separately.
- Unwanted-tracking compliance, so the tag behaves properly under the shared specification.
Ignore any listing that claims to work with "both networks simultaneously" without explaining the switch. Dual-network tags exist, but they generally require you to choose a network at setup rather than sitting on both at once.
How BlueTag fits, and where it does not
BlueTag is an Apple Find My accessory. An iPhone or an iPad is required, iOS 14.5 at minimum, signed in to iCloud; the tag then registers as an "Other Item" inside the Find My app Apple already ships. It is not compatible with Android, it is not compatible with Find Hub, and it will not appear in an Android or Windows Bluetooth pairing list. We would rather lose the sale than have that discovered after the box is open.
For an iPhone owner it does the job cleanly: 60 m / 200 ft of Bluetooth for ringing the 80–100 dB buzzer, Apple's network relaying an encrypted position beyond that, IP67 sealing, and a CR2032 cell rated for a couple of years. Two tags per box, nothing to pay for delivery inside the UK, and under £15 for the pair.
If the phone that will be doing the finding is an iPhone, see the specification and order a pair. If it is an Android handset, buy a Find Hub certified tag instead — we would rather point you somewhere useful than sell you the wrong thing.
